I would assume a lot of that commercial was created using 3d software then, later in compositing, the 2d elements were added in. For example, if we look at the first part, I would have created the entire kitchen, chefs, bowls, stoves, etc. in Cinema 4D (my 3d program of choice), and then imported that scene into After Effects and added things such as the arrows, muffins, writing, steam, color correction, screen grit, etc.

Timmy Allen talks a bit about how to do this in his article We Can All Just Get Along.

Excellent round up. In the Little Bites, I was wondering how they did the rotation of the oven to the diner and the exploded view of the muffin? Very nice and dynamic and I’d like to learn how to do that. You know of any places that I should check out for some pointers?

This is a great round up of typography videos, Matt! These are all amazing examples of, as the title would suggest, great typography in video. A lot of them I haven’t seen before or have forgotten about.

On a side note, I remember when I first popped in Zombieland. I had to of watched the opening credits about ten times before I actually watched the movie!
